Connors-BRI Abstracts: Deadline April 2

The Connors-BRI Center for Research on Women’s Health and Sex/Gender Medicine will be hosting a symposium on May 9 from 3-5 p.m. on Incorporating Sex and Gender as Research Variables to Advance Health featuring keynote speaker Donna Maney, PhD, professor of Psychology at Emory University. The abstract submission portal is officially open and Harvard researchers in any area of basic, clinical, translational, or epidemiological research related to women’s health or sex and gender differences are welcome to participate. BRI Fund to Sustain Research Excellence: Deadline April 4

The Brigham Research Institute (BRI) has developed the Fund to Sustain Research Excellence to offer interim support to independent investigators who submitted a non-mentored NIH grant application that was reviewed but missed the funding pay line. Recipients will be chosen based on need and merit. Women and under-represented minorities are encouraged to apply. Apply here.

BRIght Futures Prize: Deadline April 22

This philanthropically-supported fund sponsors work that advances the mission of the Brigham Research Institute (BRI) by catalyzing innovative, translational research that is only possible at an academic medical center, where basic researchers and clinicians work side by side. The BRIght Futures Prize call for applications strongly encourages the submission of projects across all life sciences research domains, with the evidence-based potential to preserve and/or promote health equity in local, national and international populations. Projects addressing health equity issues such as healthcare/clinical trial access, poor health/life expectancy outcomes, morbidity and mortality among underserved populations and others are welcome. 2022 Walk for POPI 5K: April 30

Join in-person or virtually for the inaugural Walk for the Program in Opioid and Pain Innovation (POPI) 5K to support those who suffer from Opioid Use Disorder and Chronic Pain. Limited Submission Opportunity: Pew Biomedical Scholars Due May 2

Based on their performance during their education and training, candidates should demonstrate outstanding promise as contributors in science relevant to human health. This program does not fund clinical trials research. Strong proposals will incorporate particularly creative and pioneering approaches to basic, translational and applied biomedical research. Candidates whose work is based on biomedical principles and incorporate concepts and theories from more diverse fields are encouraged to apply. Apply here.

Lung Research Center Mock Study Section: Summer 2022

On Tuesday, May 10, from 11:30 a.m.–1 p.m., join a mock study section hosted by the Lung Research Center that is open to all early-stage investigators to provide expert feedback on pulmonary-related R01 and K award proposals ahead of the NIH deadline. Junior faculty and fellows are strongly encouraged to participate. Participating applicants can sit in on the study section and take notes while their application is being discussed. Reviewers will score each grant; however, summary statements or other written reviews will not be provided. Apply here.
