Look Who’s Talking: #WomenInScience
Since 2015, people around the world have celebrated the International Day of Women and Girls in Science on Feb. 11. The United Nations describes the day as a powerful advocacy tool to help raise awareness about access and participation in science and the importance of gender equality and empowerment of women and girls. Many Brigham clinicians and researchers added their voices to the conversation on Twitter, both in celebration of the day but also in celebration of women in science in general. Below are some of their tweets:
Anna Greka, MD, PhD, director of the Glom-NExT Center for Glomerular Kidney Disease and Novel Experimental Therapeutics in the Renal Division, took a moment to reflect on one of her science role models: Marie Curie.
What an #inspiration ! To this day, Marie Curie remains the only person – man or woman – to have received two @NobelPrize in two scientific fields – #chemistry and #physics https://t.co/PrYVahf8hr #WomenInScience #WomenInScienceDay @harvardmed @BrighamResearch @harvardmed
