Sheehan Appointed Partners HealthCare Chief Human Resources Officer

Rose Sheehan has been named Chief Human Resources Officer for Partners HealthCare.  Sheehan has been with Partners for more than 18 years and has served many roles during that time, including leading a team of 800 individuals in Revenue Cycle Operations.  In addition to her work in Revenue Cycle, Sheehan has served as the Partners Finance Diversity Champion and has co-chaired the Patient Engagement Committee for Partners.  Mary Beth Remorenko will succeed Sheehan as the Vice President for Revenue Cycle Operations.

 

Gomoll Moves to the Hospital for Special Surgery

Andreas Gomoll, MD, a former member of the BWH/HMS Cartilage Repair Center and former director of the Orthopaedic Program in the BWH Center for Regenerative Medicine, has moved his practice to the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York. Gomoll, whose practice is devoted to knee reconstruction after injury, had been at the Brigham since 2006.

Simpson, Chen Join Department of Orthopaedics

The Department of Orthopaedics will welcome two new faculty members on Feb. 1. Andrew K. Simpson, MD, MHS will join the department as an Orthopaedic spine surgeon and Antonia F. Chen, MD, MBA will join as a total joint surgeon. Simpson is a fellowship trained orthopaedic spine surgeon who comes to the Brigham from the Texas Back Institute. Simpson competed medical school at the Yale School of Medicine, his internship at MGH and his residency at Harvard Combined Orthopaedics Residency Program. Chen who was at the Rothman Institute before joining the Brigham, is a fellowship trained, board-certified orthopaedic surgeon in adult reconstruction who specializes in hip and knee replacement surgery. Both Chen and Simpson are widely published and actively engaged in research as well as clinical practice.

Christina Smith

Smith Joins Department of Emergency Preparedness

Christina (Chris) Smith has joined the Department of Emergency Preparedness as a senior manager. Smith began in December. Smith has worked in health care for more than 20 years. Most recently, she was a senior program manager in Response and Recovery in the Office on Public Health Preparedness at the Boston Public Health Commission. She earned a master’s degree in Health Administration from the University of Missouri School of Medicine in 2009. Smith also owns MedEPrep LLC, a consulting service which helps organizations prepare for emergencies by providing risk assessment, planning, and training.

Jonathan Santiago

Santiago Leaves BWFH, Joins BWH

Jonathan Santiago will become Director of Materials Management at BWH on Jan. 22. Santiago will be leaving his current role of materials manager at Brigham and Women’s Faulkner Hospital. Santiago became the first in-house Materials Manager after BWFH changed the structure of its program five years ago. Since then, he has built an efficient, customer service focused Materials program.

 

 

Michael Duggan

Duggan Joins NICU as Nurse Director

Michael Duggan, MSNc, BSN, RN, has been appointed the NICU nurse director. Duggan comes to BWH from the University of Iowa Stead Family Children’s Hospital where he was NICU manager for 49 of 85 beds in a level IV teaching institution.

Duggan brings more than 11 years of NICU clinical and leadership experience to his new role at the Brigham. Duggan recently led nursing staff hiring and training, strategy development and the movement of patients from University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics to the Stead Family Children’s Hospital, which opened in February 2017. Duggan received his BSN from Chamberlain College of Nursing in Illinois and is currently enrolled in a Master’s of Science in Nursing program at the same school. He expects to complete his MSN program in 2018.
