“I would say that this year in particular I am most thankful for having strong and supportive mentors and colleagues in the Center for Advanced Heart Failure, which has helped me to be a better PA in caring for my VAD (ventricular assist device) patients or newly transplanted patients. Working with such a unique patient population has been challenging and rewarding at the same time – but would not be possible without the guidance of my mentors.”

– Erin Lyons, PA-C, Cardiovascular Division

“I am so thankful for our BWHC LGBT Employee Resource Group (ERG) Board members. As chair of our LGBT ERG, I am beyond grateful for the great team spirit we have created. On top of their demanding day jobs, they are consistently willing to put in the hard work, energy and time to put together incredible events like National Coming Out Day and mobilize around important LGBT Education & Advocacy initiatives. Thank you Tom Anderson, Meredith Solomon, Joel Katz, Jonah Tanguay-Colucci and Meghan Doherty for contributing positively to Brigham’s welcoming and inclusive spirit.”

“I am thankful to be reunited with some old and new colleagues this year as I returned back to work in the Center for Clinical Investigation on 9AB. I started on this floor almost 20 years ago as a nursing assistant when I was going to nursing school. I feel very blessed to be able to come back to the floor part-time while still working per diem in the Emergency Department. I have the best of both worlds.”

“I was recently talking with an inspiring administrator here at the Brigham after she had observed some of our clinical work. We were reflecting upon the small things, like having a sip of a soda or a few moments of quiet time to hold hands, that make big differences for patients in our hospital. In that vein, I am spending time feeling gratitude for the numerous occasions someone has taken a few moments from their day to do something small and completely unexpected as a kindness to me. Focusing on feeling grateful for these moments helps me to refresh myself in busy times when affecting larger challenges feels daunting. And I am also feeling very thankful for all the upcoming celebrations and desserts that the holidays bring!”

– Joshua Lakin, MD, Physician, Psychosocial Oncology & Palliative Care, Dana-Farber Cancer Institute

In addition, Brigham strives to be diverse and inclusive to all employees. Such an extraordinary place to be!”

– Jessica Desrosiers, MPH, Senior Project Manager, BWPO

“I’m incredibly thankful to have graduated from a great university and now have the opportunity to work for Brigham and Women’s/Dana-Farber Cancer Institute helping to provide patients with the blood and platelet products they require for their treatments. I’m lucky to be able to work at the Kraft Center and give back and also have the opportunity to take this first step in my career after college. It’s humbling to work with both donors and patients!”
