Sixteen digital health startup companies set up shop in Miller Atrium at 70 Francis St. on June 30 for the inaugural Digital Health Expo, sponsored by Brigham Innovation Hub.b

More than 200 individuals, including clinicians, employees, innovators, investors and researchers, attended the event throughout the afternoon and had the opportunity to visit with various startups, engage with their technology and learn about the role digital health plays in the current age of health care.

Attending startups had goals in mind such as increasing patient engagement and providing optimal physician efficiency.

The BWH Burn App, developed by the Burn Team at Brigham, is a mobile and web-based application that provides community clinicians with resources and direct, 24-hour pager access to the BWH Burn Team.

Mango Health has developed a chronic disease self-management platform that allows patients to track symptoms, identify key preventive services and monitor their medication adherence. These results are sent to the care team via the electronic health record.

Lesley Solomon, MBA, executive director of iHub and director of strategy and innovation at the Brigham Research Institute, believes digital health holds a lot of promise for patient engagement, provider efficiency, clinical decision support, and patient and family experience. “Our hope is that by introducing people to new technologies, we will create even more momentum in the testing, development and implementation of value-creating digital health platforms,” she said.
