BWH has advanced three spots to rank sixth in the U.S. News & World Report Honor Roll, and 13 of our specialties achieved rankings. We asked BWHers about what these rankings meant to them.

LWT_Levy“BWH’s 2015 U.S. News & World Report outstanding ranking is recognition that our hospital is a special place for patients to receive outstanding care. With the support of hospital leadership and the Departments of Surgery and Medicine, we have launched the BWH Lung Center and Lung Research Center. Now organized as a service line, our multidisciplinary team at BWH provides exceptional patient-centered care that is precise, compassionate, distinguished and innovative. As an employee at BWH for over 25 years, I am personally thrilled to see U.S. News & World Report recognize what I have known all along – that BWH is the best!”

-Bruce Levy, MD, Chief of the Division of Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine, Department of Medicine

LWT_Gleason“BWH’s 2015 U.S. News & World Report ranking illustrates the institution’s strong commitment to providing the highest quality health care to patients and their families. It is a privilege to work with such a diverse group of individuals every single day who all share a profound passion for research, innovation, education and above all patient care.  The advancement of geriatrics into the top ten reflects the team and all its collaborators’ continued dedication to upholding such values and striving every day to lead by example in setting the standard for care of older adults.”

-Lauren Gleason, MD, Associate Physician, Division of Aging, Department of Medicine

LWT_Chiang“To me, the ascent in rankings should serve as a stimulus to seek ways of improving further as our progress reflects our potential to reach greater heights. For instance, by increasing our social media presence, we can enhance how the general public and our peer institutions view the hospital. Increasing the visibility of our under-recognized specialties and providing them the necessary resources can only help propel the institution forward in years to come.”

-Austin Chiang, MD, Clinical/Research Fellow, Division of Gastroenterology, Department of Medicine
LWT_McDonough“While what makes the Brigham a world-class institution can’t be defined by a scoring system or methodology, it is gratifying to see the pride this recognition instills in those who work to further our mission as well as our patients and their families.”

-Erin McDonough, MBA, Senior Vice President, Chief Communication Officer
