A celebration recognizing more than 25 years of the Deland Fellowship at BWH was held in the Shapiro Breakout Room on Sept. 25. Attendees included current and former Deland Fellows and past and present hospital leadership.
Speakers included BWH President Betsy Nabel, MD, who praised the exceptional contributions of Deland Fellows and the dedication of their mentors. O’Neil Britton, MD, chief health information officer for Partners eCare and former Deland Fellow, spoke about the Deland family and the importance the fellowship has had in bringing the academic and mentorship mission to the administration field.
The Deland Fellowship in Health Care and Society is a one-year administrative experience at BWH and BWFH that prepares professionals to be leaders of health care institutions. It honors the memory of former board president F. Stanton Deland Jr., a key figure during the merger of four teaching hospitals into the present-day BWH.
