Physicians Have Opportunity to Review Their CMS-Industry Interactions Reports Before Going Public

On September 30, 2014, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) will be publishing reports on a public website containing information on payments and other transfers of value made to physicians submitted by pharmaceutical and device manufacturers under the Physician Payment Sunshine Act. The report information will cover August to December 2013.

BWH physicians have the opportunity to review and dispute these draft reports before they are made public. The review process is occurring in two phases. Phase I began on June 1 and involved having physicians register in the CMS’ Enterprise Portal. Phase II began on July 14 in which registered physicians could move forward with registering in the Open Payments system and creating a profile to review and dispute report information. Physicians have until August 27 to review and initiate disputes for any erroneous data.
