Breakthrough Prize in Life Sciences
Across BWH, clinicians, researchers and staff have made tremendous strides in tackling medicine’s toughest challenges through landmark innovation and discovery. As BWH continues to transform the future of health care, the hospital also aims to recognize and support those who have made significant discoveries.
The Breakthrough Prize in Life Sciences honors transformative advances toward understanding living systems and extending human life. Up to six Breakthrough Prizes in Life Sciences are awarded each year, including one prize for work furthering the understanding of Parkinson’s disease. Laureates receive $3 million each, the largest monetary award in sciences. Established in 2013 by Silicon Valley entrepreneurs, the prize celebrates researchers while generating excitement about the pursuit of science.
As BWH continues to deepen its commitment to recognize, encourage and support our rising stars in science and their commitment to developing life-giving breakthroughs, faculty and staff are encouraged to nominate their colleagues for this prestigious prize. The nomination form and complete details, along with recent awardees, are available at www.breakthroughprize.com. The nomination deadline is June 30.
