The Age of Evolution
How can bats and whales help us better understand how humans age, and perhaps provide a glimpse of the fountain of youth? Vadim Gladyshev, PhD, director of the BWH Center for Redox Medicine, is studying the mechanisms behind the aging process through the lens of evolution. He is collecting and studying samples from 50 mammals, from the longest- to shortest-lived, to compare their genes in hopes of identifying which ones hold the controls behind aging.
